..."THE SEINGAPATAM" and charged '1/-'.  Very fine content giving a good insight into how Codrington's chaotic command was leading to an inevitable showdown.  The Battle taking place on 20th Oct 1827, this being the battle that led to the destruction of the Ottoman–Egyptian fleet and turned the tide - "...We found... the English & French Admirals were at anchor in Navarino Bay treating with Ibrahim Pasha about the Greeks.  He has got a fleet in there amounting to 102 sail...  He says we shall never take him alive...We furl our sail all day and lay about 3 miles off Navarine to prevent escape of the Turks.  I have no doubt we shall give the Turks a good drubbing..."  A rare campaign letter from this pivotal blockade.
