...Four-Year Cambridge Anthropological survey of the North East coast of Australia - Melville served on the expedition as an Artist and Hydrographer.  He became a professional artist specialising in Landscapes and Animals and exhibited at the Royal Academy.  An historical letter illustrating sketches of the "Fly", Queen Victoria, Crewmates together with Animals, Birds and Fish, which he hoped to see in Australia.  A truly wonderful, illustrated letter by an accomplished artist.
